What is the best type of mattress pad to buy? I see a lot of memory foam mattress pads…?

… & some other types, can anyone tell me which ones they think are the most comfortable? My old mattress pad just died on me, it just didn’t have the cushiness it once had. I’m not sure how memory foam feels, but in my mind I’m thinking it would be too firm for my taste? I don’t want to have to wait 5 minutes before hopping back in to bed because I’m waiting for my imprint to wear off in the foam. Like I said, that’s what my mind thinks of when I think of memory foam. I’d definitely prefer the kind I can wash in my washer too. My old one was a cotton material, but I loved it. So now I’m looking for that oh so nice cushiness that my old one used to have. Any suggestions or tips on where to buy & which brands to buy would be greatly appreciated!

Memory foam is very heavy and you sure couldn’t wash it in your washer. I’ve slept on a 4 inch memory foam pad that was very cushy but it was too cushy for my husband so we switched to a 2 inch one, which I still find cushy enough and he likes, too. He’s a back sleeper and I’m a side sleeper so I want a softer bed than he does, normally. Our son adopted the 4 inch pad and loves it.
Go to a mattrass store and try out the memory foam ones. It’ll give you an idea of how it feels and you don’t have to buy anything.
