Are the memory foam mattress toppers as good as getting the entire mattress made out of memory foam?

I see one on Kohl’s website that’s $200 for a 4″ queen size memory foam topper. To buy the entire mattress made out of foam would cost hundreds more so I just want to know if anyone has had success with the topper.

We bought one at Sams Club but not that thick. Is comfortable, but can’t say it is as good as a complete mattress.
I have to concur with wsne. 200$ is a bit much for that anyway, the one my girlfriend bought us was 100$. Is it as good as the full mattress? I won’t even pretend it is. Is it pretty f-ing comfortable? Yes! Shop around a bit more, try Target. Kohl’s is a bit expensive with housewares for some ungodly reason.
If your mattress has lost its support and you are trying to fix it with a topper, won’t work. It will however take a mattress that was purchased a little too on the firm side and soften it up.
Toppers are best if they are two inches or thicker. Density and ILD or IFD is important, cost is less important. Tempur Pedic Toppers are the measuring stick by which everything is compared. They are not cheap but they are the best. You may even want to look at the idea of a latex topper.
I prefer a mattress to a topper.
